the story of a hot chicken sandwich in two chicken puns
@katiebcartoons contributed
a quality guest post in august where she made (and canonized) a
bagel and lox sandwich.
what she didn’t share in her post is that, in the preceding months, she made waves
in the webcomic/poultry enthusiast scene with a series of panels depicting chicken
puns.
so wide-ranging was her impact and influence, in fact, that two of these panels
appeared on an esteemed sandwich blog weeks later. (this blog.)
the following two chicken puns tell the story of this week’s sandwich.
here is how i made a hot chicken sandwich.
1. brine chicken, make buttermilk hot sauce batter, throw flour in a bowl, and get ready to fry some chicken/destroy your kitchen.
2. portrait of a fried chicken breast, 2019.
3. toast brioche buns the usual way: on a pan while staging a heist of the toaster lobby’s most cherished artifacts (e.g. toaster magnets, toaster posters, toasters) and throwing them into the hudson.
4. squirt aioli onto your toast with a super soaker.
5. slice cornichons lengthwise. these are your sandwich pickles now.
6. coat your fried chicken with spicy oil, tell it how hot it looks, gently place it on your sandwich, and stage an intimate photoshoot.
7. a hot chicken sandwich.
